Boilerplate
Skim is the x402-native clean-reader API for AI agents — send a URL, get back agent-ready markdown in milliseconds, with agents paying per call in USDC and no API keys.
Skim is a clean-reader API built for AI agents. It turns any URL into agent-ready markdown plus structured metadata in milliseconds, and it runs entirely on x402: agents pay $0.002 per read in USDC over HTTP 402 — no signup, no accounts, no API keys. The wallet that pays is the account, and every call is settled on-chain on Base. Skim runs consistently faster than Firecrawl in production — every timing backed by an on-chain receipt — and returns payloads about 4x smaller than raw HTML, without losing content. It is solo-founded and bootstrapped.
Key messages
- No API keys, by design. Agents can't click "sign up." Skim replaces the long-lived secret with a one-time signed payment — nothing to issue, rotate, expire, or leak.
- The canonical x402 reader. Skim is built on x402, the open pay-per-call standard reviving HTTP 402, settling in USDC on Base.
- Don't pay LLM rates for non-LLM work. Cleaning a page is cheap, deterministic compute — priced at $0.002, not per-token.
- Your wallet is your identity. Identity, payment, and receipt are the same on-chain event — so accounting is the ledger, not an invoice you reconcile.
Founder

Karilyn is the founder of Skim. A former creative director, she builds Skim solo — pairing with an AI agent as her engineer — on a simple bet: as more web traffic becomes autonomous agents, those agents need infrastructure that lets them pay for what they use instead of signing up for it. Skim is her answer for the read layer: clean content in, USDC out, no keys in between.
